WebThere were several sites in Edinburgh where executions took place, namely beheadings at Edinburgh Castle, hangings in the Grassmarket, and drownings in the Nor Loch. The Grassmarket was the main location for executions which were carried out between 1660 and 1784 before the location was moved to the west end of the Luckenbooths.
