WebWe report a case of a patient with vision loss, whose diagnosis of temporal arteritis was confirmed by temporal artery biopsy. The patient presented with bilateral parotid swelling, amaurosis fugax, jaw claudication, and then headache. WebThe case highlights the difficulty in making a rapid diagnosis of giant cell arteritis and the efficacy of early steroid therapy in this vascular autoimmune disease that otherwise may result in irreversible functional and debilitating systemic damage.
